Boca Juniors Players Lead Responsible Gaming Campaign

The campaign highlights the importance of using legal gaming sites, which offer safeguards such as age verification, secure payment methods, and identity verification. These sites also provide essential tools, including options to limit betting amounts and time spent on the platform, access to support centres, and self-exclusion options, ensuring a safe and controlled environment for customers.
Filmed at Boca Predio, the clip features Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani stating, “With this shirt, you have to play with responsibility,” cleverly linking the commitment of athletes on the field to the principles of responsible gaming. Defender Lautaro Blanco follows with, “And if you do it yourself, do it in a safe place,” emphasising that gaming is an adults-only activity. Striker Miguel Merentiel concludes by saying, “With these colours, we have to set an example,” reinforcing the shared responsibility of clubs and sponsors to lead by example.
The campaign draws a parallel between the discipline required in professional sports and the importance of gaming responsibly on legal sites. Both Boca Juniors and Betsson are leaders in their respective fields and share the same values regarding their commitment to promoting responsible gaming.
Andrea Rossi, Betsson’s Commercial Director for Latin America, highlighted the significance Boca Juniors’ involvement in this awareness campaign.
“Responsible gaming is a fundamental pillar of our business. We recognise that while gaming is a form of entertainment, it is not without risks. Our priority is to enable a fun and secure experience for all our customers,” said Rossi. He also noted that Betsson provides continuous training to all employees on responsible gaming and that the company has a specialised team dedicated to managing all aspects of responsible gaming practices, both internally and with customers.
To expand the reach of the campaign, Betsson announced a multi-faceted approach, include social media initiatives, in-person activations, and a broader media push.
Why Betsson is Leading This Initiative
Currently, approximately 80% of users in Argentina are registered on unregulated gaming sites, which offers no safeguards to protect customers. This lack of oversight exposes individuals to significant risks, including fraud, problem gaming without access to support, and underage gaming. By partnering with Boca Juniors and leveraging its influence, Betsson seeks to shift consumer behaviour towards legal, regulated platforms, promoting a safer environment for gaming while fostering greater awareness of the protections offered by licensed operators.
The initiative is to shed light on unregulated gaming websites, and underscore Betsson’s dedication to creating a sustainable and ethical gaming environment, reflecting its broader mission to act responsibly while enhancing the industry’s reputation in Argentina and beyond.
