Betsson Group today announced the launch of the Betsson Foundation, a registered public benefit foundation that brings together and supports the Group’s charitable, community and sports-related initiatives under one organisation.
For many years, Betsson Group has contributed to a wide range of organisations and local communities across its markets and office locations, from employee-led fundraising and grassroots projects to community and CSR initiatives developed through our partnerships with leading football clubs and athletes.
The launch of the Betsson Foundation marks the next step in the Group’s long-standing commitment to creating positive impact. The Foundation will serve as the central organisation for coordinating and scaling Betsson Group’s social impact activities, working closely with employees, partners and local organisations across Betsson’s markets. By bringing together existing and new initiatives under a shared framework, the Foundation will strengthen collaboration and knowledge sharing, while increasing the long-term impact of these initiatives.
“Sport and community engagement have long been part of Betsson’s DNA. The launch of the Betsson Foundation strengthens our ability to support the people, programmes and organisations making a positive difference in our communities. It also gives us the opportunity to work even more closely with our clubs and athlete partners to connect the power and reach of sport with meaningful community initiatives”, said Jesper Svensson, CEO of Betsson Operations.
“Through the Betsson Foundation, we aim to create lasting positive impact by supporting worthy causes, fostering long-term partnerships, and bringing together initiatives that strengthen communities across our locations”, said Jonna Danlund, Director of ESG.
Sport will remain a central focus of the Foundation’s work, reflecting Betsson’s long-standing engagement and partnerships across the sporting community. The Foundation will seek to leverage Betsson’s global sports partnerships to expand the reach and impact of its initiatives.
As the Foundation develops, it will continue to build on existing partnerships while identifying new opportunities to support communities across Betsson’s markets. One recent example is the Foundation’s support for Boosting Up, a five-year programme in Peru that supports 22 participants from a school in Lima through football, English-language education and nutritional support.
The Betsson Foundation has been incorporated in Malta as a separate legal entity and operates under a governance framework comprising the founding company, a Board of Administrators, and a Supervisory Council. The structure provides oversight and accountability while supporting the Foundation in pursuing its philanthropic objectives and managing its activities responsibly and in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
