Celebrating Bryan Attard’s 15-Year Journey at Betsson

In this interview, Bryan reflects on what brought him to Betsson, how his role has evolved, and some of the moments that have defined his career. He also shares the values that drive him and why Betsson continues to be a place where he can thrive professionally and personally. 

Let’s dive into his inspiring story!  

1. Why did you join Betsson, and what has kept you here?

I joined Betsson because of its strong reputation in the iGaming industry, the chance to work in a dynamic environment, and my love for sports. I’ve stayed because of the great team, growth opportunities, and the company’s focus on innovation. I must admit, the hybrid work model has been beneficial for me. I live in Gozo, so being able to travel to Malta just a few days a week instead of every day has saved me commuting time and allowed me to manage personal life more easily. 

2. How has your role evolved since you first joined?

I started at Betsson in 2010 as part of the Sportsbook Risk Team, focusing on managing pre-match risks and compiling leagues. Over time, I moved into live trading, where I learned to trade various sports manually, gaining a deep understanding of odds. From there, I advanced to Live Shift Leader, overseeing in-play schedules and traders during they’re live shifts. 

My role continued to grow when I became a Senior Ice Hockey Trader, handling in-play trading and taking on scheduling responsibilities. Later, I transitioned into a leadership role as the European & eSports Trading Manager, managing a team of 11 traders, overseeing multiple sports, and handling P&L reports. Most recently, I shifted to a more partner-facing position as a Partner Relationship Manager, focusing on building strong partnerships, managing key accounts, and driving business growth. Each step has helped me expand my skills, from trading and risk management to leadership and partner relations. 

3. Can you share a memorable moment or experience from your time at Betsson?

One memorable moment was transitioning into the European & eSports Trading Manager role. Leading a team of 11 traders and successfully combining three teams (EU, UK, and eSports) into one cohesive unit was a big challenge but also a rewarding experience. Seeing the team grow, improve processes, and achieve strong results made me feel proud of how far I had come and how much impact I could make in a leadership position. It was a turning point in my career, highlighting my growth from a trader to a manager guiding others. 

4. Which Betsson values resonate with you the most?

Passion resonates with me the most. I see it in how the Betssonites approaches challenges and strives for excellence every day. It motivates me to bring my best to work and fuels creativity and innovation. Working in an environment where people are genuinely passionate makes a big difference and creates a positive and energetic workplace. 

5. What do you love the most about your time at Betsson?

The people and the positive work culture. It’s a supportive and motivating environment where I’ve been able to grow and enjoy what I do. Of course, we cannot forget to mention the Betsson legendary parties!
