Betsson is the new Official Sponsor of Champions Hockey League (CHL), thus becoming the exclusive betting partner of the league. Earlier this week, Betsson announced that it was also the main sponsor of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Thus, this agreement with CHL cements Betsson’s commitment to European hockey, making it the top hockey betting operator in Europe.

Betsson is one of the leading gaming companies in the Nordics with roots all the way back to 1963 and has a strong presence on the Nordic hockey market. Besides digital and physical exposure of the Betsson brand, the agreement also includes the ability to create exclusive content around the games. In addition to the financial support for the league, the ambition of the sponsorship is to build bridges between the Swedish and international hockey leagues.

“We are already the main sponsors of SHL and are now deepening our commitment to ice hockey further. To see the Swedish and Finnish top teams facing competition from some of the other European teams is exciting and good for hockey. It is also exciting for us and further proof to a goal of being hockey’s top betting operator in Europe,” says Peter Zäll, Chief Strategy Officer at Betsson.

The Champions Hockey League is fully owned and operated by Champions Hockey League AG/Ltd which includes, as its shareholders, the 26 founding clubs, six national founding leagues and the International Ice Hockey Federation. The CHL season culminates in a one-game final showdown to be played on 5 February 2019 at the home venue of the team with the best accumulated group stage and playoff record. A season total of 125 games will have been played by the time the European Trophy is lifted by the champions.
